I was born and raised in the beautiful town of Ithaca, NY - the land of aging hippies and stunning waterfalls. There, I headed a youth-run theatre company, was a member of the Suicide Prevention and Crisis Center’s improv troupe (it was more fun than it sounds, really), and studied the Meisner Technique at The Actors Workshop of Ithaca.
Now, I’m a Los Angeles based actress/singer and recent graduate of The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre. Since graduating, I’ve been busy performing with such theaters as The Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Real Theatre Company (which I co-founded and is officially a non-profit!), and recently appeared on CBS’s Criminal Minds. I’m currently working on several new projects including “US” a new Peter Gabriel musical written by Maggie F. Levin.
I sing in empty subway stations, make excellent salsa, and do my best to live joyfully and work hard.
“Helen Highfield makes ingenue Catherine endearing but not saccharine...”
- Heather J. Violanti, NYtheatre.com
“As the object of their affections, Helen Highfield focuses on Catherine's love for her guardian, making her sacrifice of her future happiness completely believable, then is equally convincing with her character's near-feminist awakening.”
- Erik Haagensen, Backstage
